The interdisciplinary Schools at IIHS break from the constraints and silos of the traditional one-department, one-discipline model, and are each dedicated to a distinct transformative theme, with concrete pathways to impact. They draw from the rich traditions of various disciplines, while embracing innovative, cross-sectoral, cross-scale and interdisciplinary approaches to address a wide range of urban issues.

The Labs at IIHS are spaces of innovation, cutting-edge research and grounded practice. They feed into IIHS’ larger academic and research structure by providing spaces for experimentation on knowledge creation and incubation, methodological innovation, and critical skill-building for teaching and training.
